After repeatedly conquering the smartphone market, Xiaomi is now focusing to push other smart devices into the market. The Mi TV is the latest product launched by the company.
Xiaomi launched their first variant TV under the name, Mi TV 4A during early 2018. The Smart TV was not only an instant success, but the Flash sales were over within 5 mins.
The Smart TV market controlled by big companies like Samsung, Sony, LG puts a hefty price tag on their TV’s. But the Mi TV is budget friendly for the common man with all the latest functions, and technology.
After the success of their first variant, Xiaomi launched the second generation Mi TV under the name Mi TV 4C Pro. The 4C pro is a 32 inch (80 cm) HD Ready smart TV while 4A Pro is 49 inches (123 cm)Full HD. They are an arsenal to the already expanding Xiaomi lineup. Both are pure Android Oreo TV’s, with tons of cool features to explore.

The Mi TV looks really beautiful & attractive, it’s really lightweight under 5Kgs compared to other similar devices. The two 10W stereo speakers placed on the bottom side are crisp & clear. It doesn’t sport any menu keys other than the power button since everything could be easily controlled from the remote itself.
Comparatively the older version Mi TV 4 is more compact & slim than the 4A/4C pro models.
The 32 inch Mi TV 4C Pro has resolution of 1366x768p & 1920 x 1080 pixel for 49 inch 4A Pro. The picture looks really great, and there are no visible flaws. The colors could’ve looked a bit more natural but considering the price it’s not a big deal.
Both the 4C Pro & 4A Pro has the same Patchwall OS, build with Android Oreo. The entire UI is really beautiful & non-clunky, there was no lag or stutter anywhere. User experience is super smooth with AI auto-suggesting contents based on viewing history.
Built with Indian user in mind, Xiaomi has partnered with companies like Hotstar, Voot, Hungama Play, Sony Liv & many more to provide tons of free Indian content. Xiaomi claims there are more than 700,000+ hrs of content to watch. With Amazon Prime coming to the device very soon, you’ll have plenty of free content available.
With Google Playstore built-in, you are free to download and install any app you want. This means you could even play some of the Android games available. For certain games, you need a joystick to play.
With 64-bit quad-core processor, 1GB RAM + 8GB storage the Mi TV is a delight to the user. Although only 5GB storage is available to the user, and there is no support to add SD cards. So you are limited to installing fewer apps.
The Smart TV sports 3 HDMI ports, 2 USB ports apart from the common ethernet port, 3.5mm audio jack, and AV ports. There is both WiFi & Bluetooth built-in for seamless connectivity across various devices.
Other important features include built-in Chromecast, Google Voice Search & Mi Remote with voice.
Now comes the burning questions…
Should you buy the Redmi Mi 4C/4A Pro TV? Are there any issues with the device?
You should absolutely buy the Mi 4C Pro if you are looking for a new TV, the brand is really good and budget friendly without compromising on the latest features & technology. The Mi TV is really worth its price if you look at any other brands with similar features you will need to add an extra 10k INR. The TV looks awesome with brilliant display & sound quality.
The only issue you need to bother is customer service, even though Xiaomi has customer support all over India, it is really not up to the company standards. Occasionally you will need to contact them multiple times to get your product repaired.
Does the Mi 4C TV support YouTube, Netflix & Amazon Prime?
Mi TV supports Youtube and various other content providers, according to Xiaomi, they are in the process of bringing Netflix & Amazon Prime very soon.
You can sideload & install Netflix easily, don’t trust me ??
But don’t expect other services to be available in a week or month. Sideloading Amazon Prime won’t work as well. So if you are Amazon Prime viewer then Mi TV is not for you, yet.
Although you can install any browser and watch Prime Videos from there.
Does the MI TV 4C support the cast screen option?
Mi TV supports Chromecast, and you can seamlessly cast your smartphones and gadgets to the TV. I tested with Redmi 6 Pro, Poco F1, Vivo V11 & Samsung S9 and all the devices connected in an instant.
But if you are looking for Miracast, then sadly the newer versions Mi TV 4C Pro, 4A Pro, and Mi Tv 4 Pro don’t have the option.
How much Internal memory? Can I add SD Card?
The Mi Tv comes with 8GB inbuilt memory, out of which only 4.7GB is user available. There is no SD-Card slot as well. But you can use a USB stick and use it as external memory.
Simply plug in your USB stick, go to Settings>Storage & Reset; then select your USB and choose Format as device storage.
Will the Mi TV auto-suggest work for me?
The Mi TV auto-suggestion works by learning your viewing pattern. The more you watch, the suggestions become better & better.
But if you watch TV series, and your children watch cartoon programs then your suggestion will be mixed up with both.
Where can I buy Mi TV in India?
Mi TV is exclusively available on both Amazon & Flipkart. The 32 inch Mi Tv 4C Pro & 49 inch Mi Tv 4A Pro are available to purchase from Amazon at 14,999INR & 29,999INR respectively. The 55 inch Mi Tv 4 Pro with 4K is available from Flipkart at 49,999INR.
At the price of a smartphone, the Mi TV is a clear steal for the money. No other brands provide similar features for the budget. Besides the user-friendly UI and Patchwall OS, the ability to download apps directly from Playstore adds to the benefits.
Xiaomi is a company that provides timely updates & patches, even after 4 years it still updates its older smartphones like Redmi 1s and that can be taken as a positive sign.
If you in the market looking to buy a TV, then nothing should stop you from buying this amazing product.
