Even though the concept of Smartwatches is fairly new, they are making quite a stir recently. Now there a lot of top companies trying to get the best with a wide range of smartwatches. Even though you can diversify these smartwatches based on their functions and controls there is one you should be focusing on mainly as a user;
The ability of the true smartwatch should rest in its ability to eliminate or minimize the need for you to take your phone to a minimum.
Now amongst many suitable competitors, we select some which we think have a lot of potential to make it to the next level.
1. Omate TrueSmart
Omate Truesmart is now one of the best smartwatch out there, even though it was not them who invented the “Watch phone” this one is a perfect gadget to start your experience with a Watchphone, now you must be confused with the term watchphone; while most of the smartwatches communicate with smartphones via Bluetooth to access information and display in its screen Omate has a gone step ahead meaning it can connect directly to the network provider via a built-in-SIM card. Yup that actually means it can do almost everything your phone can, or can simply say it’s an upgraded version of an Android 4.2 Smartphone that works seamlessly from your wrist.
The Omate TrueSmart has the capability to receive as well as make calls, you can even e-mail, text message or surf the web all from the device itself using its colour LCD touchscreen. The camera which is built exactly at the watch crown is really interesting. The Antenna is buried deep into the straps and hence you cannot change bands.
Even though there is no doubt the feature to connect directly will be adapted to the next range of smartwatches and not forcing you to connect smartwatch with nothing else and operate it as an independent gadget. But for the time being Omate has truly done it and have gone really ahead in the competition. Moreover with its great design there is no doubt there is will be many loyal followers for the gadget. If they can capitalize this early advantage and decide to take its technology and design to the next level surely there will be no one to challenge their superiority in the Smartwatch field.
Pebble was one of the first Smartwatch producers that actually made a big change in the Smartwatch concept, their original version was a masterpiece and rose over a whopping $10 million. The Pebble is still one of the best out there; it can easily connect to both Android and iOS. And send almost all the alerts from your smartphone to your smartphone efficiently. And there are over 1500 apps available for the smartwatch from its own Pebble app store including apps like Foursquare and other day to day apps that a normal user would want. The Pebble’s straps can be swapped for further personalization. The Pebble is available for around $150.
3. Pebble Steel
The Pebble had a strong foothold in the Smartwatch industry, the Pebble Steel is a follow up of the original version. The main difference lies in its design from its dark colored predecessors; it follows a bit more standard-ish and redesigned housing with a true touch of Steel which brings it an elegant and better look. And the screen is protected with the famous Corning Gorilla’s Glass. The Pebble Steel is available for $250 in the market.
4. Samsung Gear 2
While the original Galaxy gear was great, and fairly new Samsung decided to follow it up with the Samsung Galaxy Gear 2, the notable changes to the previous version starts with the operating system. The new design features a new custom operation system called Tizen instead of Android. The Galaxy gear 2 is made in metal body and connects effortlessly with all the Samsung Galaxy smartphones and can receive and place calls via its built in speaker and mic.
The Gear 2 lets the users customize the watchbands and themes; and the built in 2.0 MP camera with Autofocus is good to take snaps and record videos with ease from your wrist. The Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 comes packed with a 1.63” Super AMOLED touchscreen, heart rate counter, Accelerometer, Gyroscope and is IP 67 Certified Dust and Water Resistant for those fitness and outdoorsy types and an IR blaster which can be used to control your TV which is something brilliant from my point of view.
5. Samsung Gear 2 Neo
The Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 Neo is exactly same to the Galaxy gear with all its features like1.63” Super AMOLED touchscreen, heart rate monitor, step counter, swappable straps and the IR transmitter except for the Camera which takes you to a simple conclusion as they intent to provide the gadget at different costs so it becomes viable for customers of all level. The Gear 2 Neo is also IP 67 Certified Dust and Water Resistant.
Although both the Galaxy gear devices provide a rich user friendly experience and an excellent design to the smartwatch category their limitation to work only with Samsung devices is a huge drawback for all non-Samsung users. The Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 is expected to cost around $300 while the Galaxy Gear 2 Neo is expected to go around $200.
6. I’m Watch
I’m watch is one of those designs that excels to its topmost point, the built of the smartwatch is absolutely marvelous and so its ability to deliver almost all the alerts while paired with an Android, iOS or Blackberry device. The smartwatch lets you check almost all the social networking apps directly from its touchscreen. The devices own application store “i market” has a lot of distinctive apps to choose from. You can read texts as well as check emails and even social media without even taking your Android smartphone out of your pocket. The Smartwatch uses NFC for quick pairing if available in the smartphone. The smartwatch lacks a mic or a speaker on board so you can’t actually make or receive calls from the device. Unlike its competitors Sony Smartwatch can utilize the Google Play store and access the thousands of apps available. The Sony Smartwatch can be easily obtained for $200.
