Who on earth thought this would happen. The growth of Chinese handset giants Xiaomi has become so fierce that even the top acclaimed Smartphone brands in the world had to suffer a sucker punch to the face in the last couple of years. The brains behind Xiaomi definitely knows how to conquer the arena with high quality devices at affordable price ranges. No doubt why they have become the third largest Smartphone maker in the world. Now coming on to our matter, the company has introduced back to back handsets in mid 2016 with little to no time in between.
Although this may provide a variety of options to the buyers, there is also a possibility of confusion because there are only minor variations in the names and specs of the different phones. So here are our list of the 4 best Xiaomi phones to lay your hands on. So come along and check out the comparisons to see which one grabs your eyeballs and decide who is the best among the pack.
The list includes the Xiaomi Mi 5, Redmi Note 3, Redmi 3s Prime and finally the Xiaomi Mi Max.
XIAOMI Mi 5
He is the successor of the previous record breaker, the Xiaomi Mi 4. And guys, have no doubt because this crisp lightweight 5.15 incher has all it takes to write a legacy for itself. The display is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 and guess what the same type of protection is used in the rear panel also. That’s what we call additional protection. Powered by MIUI 7.0, the Mi 5 runs on Android v6.0 Marshmallow. You’ll get 64 or 32 GB of intenal memory along with 3GB RAM. Xiaomi has also introduced a pro- edition of the Mi 5 which comes with a whooping 128GB internal space and 4GB RAM. But the absence of an external card slot will go down as a con.
It runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset and a Quad-core 2.15 GHz CPU. On the back panel we have a hump- free 16 MegaPixels camera with dual LED and some impressive features. A 4 MegaPixels front facing camera solves most of your selfie needs. Below the screen is the home key which also acts as the fingerprint scanner. The fingerprint sensor of the Xiaomi Mi 5 is impressive to an extent. Now time to solve some power issues, we have a Non-removable Li-Po 3000 mAh battery. The non- removable part may seem as a downfall but wait there is always something good in everything.
The so called battery comes with Quick Charge 3.0 which means your battery will be 80% charged in around 30 minutes. And finally comes the price part. The Xiaomi Mi 5 is available for around 24000 INR.
XIAOMI Redmi Note 3
The next boy on our paper is none other than the Redmi Note 3 who is a more polished avatar of the previous Redmi Note 2. Here what catches our attention first is the impressive metal design, an added fingerprint sensor and a fleshy battery. But there is more to it. It has a 5.5 inches IPS LCD display similar to that of its successor, but we suggest that Xiaomi could have added a Corning Gorilla Glass protection for the display.
The Redmi Note 3 come with a new Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 chipset. Definitely the all round performance of the handset proves the worth of its new chipset and CPU. A 16GB and 32GB model is available with 2GB or 3GB of RAM respectively The 5 MegaPixels selfie camera may sound same to the previous version but they have improved the rear camera to 16 MegaPixels. But we have to say that the crispiness of the images taken by the rear camera is not so exciting.
The new Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 runs on the same MIUI 7 along with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. The addition of a fingerprint sensor is definitely a plus. It is neately located below the dual LED flash of the rear camera. Now comes another plus, yes we are talking about the powerhouse of the phone, a Li-Po 4000 mAh battery that ensures excellent power backup. Even though the battery is non- removable, its long lasting life out powers all such shortcomings. And to sum up the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 is available for 9999 INR ( 16GB model) and 11999 INR (32 GB model ) respectively.
XIAOMI Redmi 3S Prime
Here is one to cheer for. This new guy has some excellent features wrapped up along a very decent price tag. Released on August 2016, we here have a 5 inches IPS LCD display with ~294 ppi pixel density to see the best of it and a thinner and lightweight design which scores A+ in attractiveness & handling of the device. Xiaomi has powered the Redmi 3S Prime with the latest MIUI 8 and runs on Android version 6.0.1 (Marshmallow). A Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 chipset along with an Octa- core 1.4 GHz Cortex- A53
CPU ensures the free flowing performance of the device. You’ll get a solid 3GB RAM along with an internal storage of 32GB which is more than what you could ask for in such a low budget Smartphone. You could also sacrifice the SIM 2 slot for additional storage by microSD card and you can expand memory upto 256GB. Now coming on to the camera specs, a 13 MegaPixels rear camera will be a good wrap for the photographer in you. The front facing 5 MegaPixels camera is also pretty good comparing with the price. Xiaomi is definitely making a signature move by adding fingerprint sensors to most of its recent devices and the Redmi 3S Prime is no exception. And for the battery, a Non- removable Li-Ion 4100 mAh beast packed inside is just incredible. Our personal opinion is that it is the battery part where Xiaomi jumps high above most of its other competitors. And here comes more happiness as we scan the price tag. Priced at only 8999 INR!!! Are you still reading this??? Go get a Xiaomi Redmi 3S Prime for the sake of it.
XIAOMI Mi Max
Smartphones with larger displays have been recieving wider demand as everyone loves to watch and enjoy videos in a big screen. But the mainĀ concern of many brands who tried bigger Android devices was matching up a sufficient power source to cope with the gigantic displays. The Xiaomi Mi Max is designed to tackle this misery. Spreading across a massive 6.44 inches with ~342 ppi pixel density, it gathers the vote of large screen lovers. The device also supports 4k video formats. Not to mention that the display is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 4. This one is simply an evolved version of the previously said Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 with some more added features.
The Mi Max runs on MIUI 7 on top of Android version 6.0 (Marshmallow). This giant is available in 2 models; a 32/64GB model with 3 GB RAM and a 64/128GB model with 4GB of RAM. Xiaomi has used a Snapdragon 650 chipset in the first model and a Snapdragon 652 chipset in the latter model. It comes with 16 MegaPixels rear camera with dual-LED flash and a 5 MegaPixels selfie camera. The image quality of both the cameras are good and up to the mark. Similar to all the phones described above, this one also comes with a fingerprint sensor which is neately placed at the backside. A Non-removable Li-Ion 4850 mAh battery just silences the haters.
There are only a few competitors in the Android market that can match up with the battery of this guy and none has a similar monstrous display or advanced processor. Again Xiaomi hits a home run with such an outrageous device with meaty battery life. The Xiaomi Mi Max is priced at 14999 INR and we believe the price isn’t so high either. The only con noticeable is the heaviness of the device; but is it really a bad thing comparing to the features included in this frame?
AND THE WINNER IS
These are our take on the 4 best Xiaomi devices to place your bet on. And deciding the best could be done only on the basis of your preferences. If you are high on expectations but low on budget, we suggest you go for the Xiaomi Redmi 3S Prime which has more than enough features comparing to its low price tag. But if you are a constant reader or a person always watching movies on your Smartphone the Mi Max will be the best option for you as it can also give you longer lasting battery life when you are on the go. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 is a smaller varient of the Mi Max and at an affordable budget. And finally if you could pull out a few more currencies then go for the Xiaomi Mi 5 which is a top notch without a doubt.
So which one have you decided to grab. Tell us your opinions in the comments section below.
