Did you just crack your iPhone screen? Oh well it happens to all of us, or at least some of us. The latest studies shows one in every four smartphones has cracked screens, no wonder in this hectic times; it’s bound to happen. Now how about fixing it up? Is it worth it? You think it’s just a piece of glass, don’t you ?
All the latest smartphones including the iPhone have capacitive touch screen that is connected directly to your phone’s brain, if it’s your iPhone, then Apple iPhone store will replace it for a small repair cost of $50 as long as you are under the insurance period of 2 years that costs $100 or its going to cost you a little much more, that is around $180-250$. But for the rest of the smartphones it will cost around $150-$200, and depends on the brand.
Or there is another easier way that much more cost effective, a “Do it yourself Kit”, it will only cost you under $50. It does look easy doesn’t it? You believe you’re savvy and geeky enough to do it?
Ok then here is a piece of advice, DON”T, just don’t. To start with most of these kits don’t come with any proper instructions, Google? Yup lets Google it, and you are going to find yourself 1000’s of results, each of them following similar but different styles.
And sometimes you may find yourself lost in the middle. Not to mention all the microscopic parts and screws and stuff you’re about to lose. And finally all those above mentioned tool kits won’t be good as you think; yes some tools are going to break in the middle.
And finally yes, you guessed it right all you have is hundreds of tiny electronic parts which you claim to be was your beautiful iPhone or Smartphone. Don’t even think for a slightest moment you are going to re assemble it back together.
Next stop is Internet servicing, you could just mail it them and they will do all the dirty work for you, it will cost you a little more than Do it yourself kit, around $70 – $150 depending on your phone, older phones costs less than the new AMOLED screens and iRetina HD screens, but there’s a catch most of them will take around 4-5 business days meaning you won’t have a phone for a week and all those appointments and calls are lost.
And finally comes your local repair shop, you could just drop it there and hang around or go shopping and in less 1-2 hours you get it back all repaired. And definitely it’s going to cost you much cheaper less than $70. So the best way to fix your cracked phone screen is with your local repair guy, it’s the fastest and most cost efficient way to go. And now there are even mobile repair shops, meaning the repair guy will come to your home and fix it in front of you while you wait.
