Now there is no chance you could’ve missed the battle that is waging the Android world, it is where all the action is these days. Since Samsung has released their Galaxy S4, the fight for the “Top Android Smartphone” position got much tighter. The main candidates for the top position Galaxy S4, HTC One and Sony Xperia Z all brought something unique and epic.
Now I know I’m being very unfair to Motorola and LG by ignoring their efforts and supporters. To be frank I was never a LG fan, and the Motorola experiences I had been terrible almost all the time. Now according to my belief the real fight is between the Present champion Galaxy S4, and also the most daring competitors, the HTC One and Sony Xperia Z.
Samsung received much of its popularity and fame after the release of the Galaxy S in 2010, since then the corporate has been perpetually engaged in producing the best smartphones the customer wants and been highly successful with the releases of Galaxy S2 and S3. Now the question that remains is whether S4 will be up to the mark and succeed its predecessors.
Last year, HTC’s One X was my favorite; however Samsung’s S3 clearly won in terms of sales. The flagship phone carries so much expectation they needed to make sure their loyal supporters and users are getting their money’s worth. It is to find out whether the HTC One is a real challenger to the top position or is it just a gimmick.
Sony had an early advantage over the others and was the first to release the beast Xperia Z into the market. Now it is finally time for the Xperia Z to meet its match, and there is no doubt how much impression Xperia Z was able to make. Now the question remains, Will Sony Xperia Z finally meet is nemeses? Or is the Xperia Z too hot for the Galaxy S4 and HTC One to handle?
Where Galaxy S4 shines over the HTC One and Sony Xperia Z
The current champ Galaxy S4 comes with pretty amazing features over the HTC One. First to notice amongst them is the screen size, the large screen of Samsung Galaxy S4 works with gloves and even air gestures. Even though certain features like Infra-red blaster, Air gestures like Smart stay, Smart pause, Smart scroll, the additional sensors like Hygroscope, Barometer and Thermometer is under constant discussion as how it will be useful for a normal day to day user, still it maybe considered as taken as an advantage over the Xperia Z and HTC One.
The Samsung was the last to arrive which gave them enough time to provide with Android 4.2.2 out of the box; even though could not be claimed as a huge advantage since 90% of the Android users prefers to root their Smartphone, for the rest 10% having the latest OS at their disposal without the need to update is great to an extent. Aside from the 16/32/64GB internal memory the expandable storage capability upto 64Gb will ensure even the most heavy multimedia user will have more than enough space. The Samsung Galaxy S4 comes with the new generation chipset Exynos 5 Octa 5410 famed for its high clock speed, along with the Quad-core 1.6 GHz Cortex-A15 CPU, 2GB RAM and PowerVR SGX 544MP3 GPU will be a robust feature as the most advanced and latest full HD games will run very smoothly and work quite efficiently with the New Mutli-window multitasking capability provided by Samsung.
This feature unlike the rest will sure give an extra edge to each and everyone from multimedia users to heavy network users and will be probably the NEXT feature that Sony, HTC and other competitors will want to imitate in their next flagships. Unlike its challengers Samsung S4 comes with a user-replaceable high capacity battery tailored just for a smartphone like the GalaxyS4 with the big screen and the powerful processor.
The other notable features include the screen that is thinner, smaller and lighter which still produces Superior color reproduction, high clarity, contrast and amazing viewing angles. Even though very less important but still mentionable the Samsung Galaxy S4 comes with the TouchWiz UI, Samsung’s own trademark software. Even though not challenging enough for the Xperia Z the high resolution 13 MP camera sure beats the heck out of the 4 MP HTC One.The Samsung S4 has capability to dual-video recording that can shoot 9.6MP photos while still recording HD videos and even do 60MP wide panoramas.
Where HTC One shines above Samsung Galaxy S4 and Sony Xperia Z
The first thing you notice on the HTC One is its Brilliant-looking aluminum unibody, it is very unique and beautiful and is a sure eye catcher. The super LCD3 display with a whooping 469ppi density means very high clarity and display resolution. HTC One was released in between the Sony Xperia Z and the Samsung Galaxy S4 and is equipped with the all powerful Snapdragon 600 chipset with Quad-core 1.7 GHz Krait 300 and 2GB RAM ensures smooth operation and no lagging.
A rather beautiful feature of the HTC One is its Front mounted stereo speakers, Beats Audio; the quality is so powerful there is no doubt it is bound to drive in tons of music lovers to the HTC One. Another uniqueness is the image sensor with 2µm pixel size, which practically means micro pixels or 3 more pixels inside a usual pixel could guarantee in a High quality images with supreme clarity.
Even though the HTC One features only a 4 MP camera it does have Optical Image Stabilization that could still provide with great quality pictures tagged along with the 2µm pixel image sensor. HTC One also sports a Infra red blaster much like the Samsung Galaxy S4 and will definitely be a huge drawback for the much acclaimed Sony Xperia Z. The HTC Zoe, BlinkFeed and the smaller footprint are the other main points to note and could prove to have a huge fan base. The FM radio could be of great use for those who still stick to their radio stations over their own MP3’s.
Where Sony Xperia Z beats the Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One
The most powerful feature that comes with the Sony Xperia Z is its IP57 dust and water protection; it guarantees the smartphones to be used in the hardest and the worst environments. Apart from HTC One’s aluminum body or Samsung Galaxy S4’s the Xperia Z is a fully Glass-covered body that looks way superior to all its challengers and Shatter proof and scratch-resistant glass meaning the smartphone will be a tough one to break.
The Sony Xperia Z has a powerful 13.1 MP camera which has the latest HDR video recording. When compared with HTC One, Sony Xperia Z has the larger screen. Another factor is the price, Xperia Z is already available and slighlty cheaper than its competitors. The Xperia Z comes with microSD card support upto 64GB with internal memory of 16GB, which could be more than enough for most multimedia users. The Qualcomm MDM9215M chipset along with Quad-core 1.5 GHz Krait CPU and 2GB RAM will be good enough to play even the best games in full graphic settings with no lag and complete smoothness for a couple more years. Alike HTC One, Samsung S4 also features a FM radio for the music lovers. The TV-out via MHL link works with most of the available MHL HDMI cables could prove fruitful for to watch movies and pictures in large screen TV’s. The thinner body of Xperia Z will make sure to fit comfortably to those slim fit jeans and tight jackets.
If you read good enough you will likely find that Samsung Galaxy S4 won more battles than its challengers over Bigger and Better Screen, New software and android version with latest chipset that ensures better performance and the camera. But HTC One made a huge comeback with its one and only premium Aluminum unibody which is a trend setter and feels very premium and classy. The other features like Beats Audio and Blinkfeed and there is no doubt its going to be the favorite amongst the music lovers and especially younger people, since Optical Image Stabilization and HTC Zoe will enhance the Facebook and Twitter experience.
The Sony Xperia went with IP57 dust proof waterproof that will attract the outdoorsy type since it gives much more protection to their phones. But if you think that is the only main advantage of Xperia Z then your completely wrong, they got a beautiful full glass body and mostly had an early early release advantage over the S4 and HTC One. The Samsung Galaxy S4 on the other hand seems like it couldn’t care less about looks. This is in a way a stronger statement than the exquisite build and finish of its rival. Just as HTC One went ahead with the premium body and avoiding the Camera race, they maybe considered as the rebels in their corresponding areas.
The 3 most appealed smartphones currently ruling the Android market are unique and special in their respective terms.
